Unhappy Netgear Range Extender WN2500RP

I have just been trying to help a friend connect his Netgear Range Extender WN2500RP to his home network, initially all went well as per the instructions that came with the Ranger, however to finalise the link the instructions stated that I needed to connect to www.mywifiext.net, that's when the problem started. Try as I might I could not connect to the website. I thought I would try and phone their helpdesk but trying to find a phone number was impossible. There was a third party number available but a £1.35 per minute; I gave it a miss!
Needless to say any help would be much appreciated

Have you tried using http://www.mywifiext.net instead to access the configuration pages?

Default Netgear Range Extender WN2500RP

Yes I did, in fact the instruction booklet emphasised the importance of including http:\\ but regrettably it did not work.
I was wondering whether I should initially connect the Range Extender directly to the computer with an ethernet cable; have you any thought on that?

I would try with an Ethernet cable from a LAN port on the extender to the computer (not the router) to see if there is a difference.

OK I'll give that a try. Can't do it until the weekend but will post my results, here's hoping!

Connecting the Extender directly to the computer with an ethernet cable solved the problem. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi. Did you notice that you used Back slashes after http: in your post, instead of Forward slashes. If you did this when entering the address it will be the reason why you couldn't access the website.
