I have just set up Windows 7 on a new HDD.
I have centralised all my documents from the old HDD and loaded Foxit reader (instead of Adobe 8.12) and Office 2007. On Vista, the Adobe 8.12 version gave me previews in the explorer as thumbnails, and so did Word. On this "New" OS, there are no thumbnail views in Adobe 8.12 (thats why I removed it in favour of foxit reader), but the Word Thumbnails are hit & Miss. Below is a shot of part of a folder containing 2 word documents, both created on my Vista system last year, and a pdf now opened in Foxit, and the same 3 files from the Vista set up. What can I do to get thumbnail previews in ALL my word documents, and can I get thumbnails of pdf files? (from W7 PC) (from Vista PC) ![]() Thanks - Dave

In your screenshots, the Adobe Reader gives a thumbnail, but the Foxit doesn't. It would seem the "problem" is with Foxit, not W7.

Dave,
I`m not so sure Gill is totally correct in what she says. All my PDF documents with FR show the icons exactly as you show them above and they also did in Vista. Possibly just due to the way Foxit Reader is set up?? rogerman

Thanks Gill & rogerman;
There are several issues: 1. Foxit never has shown thumbnails either in Vista or in Seven. 2. Adobe used to show thumbnails in Vista but only version 8.1.2 (Later versions didn't show them). Installing 8.1.2 in Seven didn't give me thumbnails so I removed it in favour of the smaller, simpler, Foxit reader. 3. If I could get a pdf reading program to show thumbnails, I would probably install that. 4. The 2 word documents are both Word 2007 created, and show different properties. _Why? (I seem to remember a setting in word or Excel to "Show thumbnails" but can't remember where ![]() Thanks again - Dave

I'm not familiar with that setting, Dave. You might want to post a new thread in the Office Software forum. I would be interested in that myself.

Thanks, Dave. I've subscribed to your new thread so I'll know when there's any replies.
![]() By the way, that link you posted doesn't actually take you to your new thread, but opens a "New Thread" box in that forum. Your thread link should be this one: http://forums.computeractive.co.uk/s...d.php?t=180103 Hope you don't mind me pointing that out, but others might be interested also. Gill
